PIB Additive Polyisobutylene PIB950

PIB Polyisobutylene Additive Engine Oil Thickener Additive PIB950

High-Performance Viscosity Index Improver & Tackifier

PIB950 is a premium PIB additive and non-volatile liquid with stable chemical properties. This advanced polyisobutylene formulation will not form residues after high-temperature volatilization or thermal decomposition. It has excellent thermal oxidation performance, is impermeable to water vapor and other gases, is hydrophobic, and has good shear resistance.

PIB950 can be used to produce low molecular ashless dispersants, used as additives for preparing two-stroke oils, and can also be used as a thickener for various materials.

Product Introduction

PIB950 is a low molecular weight polyisobutylene(Mn≥900) viscosity index improver engineered to enhance high-temperature viscosity and low-temperature fluidity in lubricants. Synthesized via catalytic polymerization of isobutylene, it delivers exceptional shear stability and thermo-oxidative resistance while maintaining compatibility with mineral, synthetic, and bio-based base oils. Key applications include gear oils, hydraulic fluids, drawing compounds, and wire/cable insulation materials.

Advanced Features

Increases viscosity index (VI) by ≥40%, ensuring robust lubricating films at high temperatures and pumpability at low temperatures (MRV ≤25,000 cP @ -40°C).

Shear Stability Index (SSI) ≤25 (ASTM D6278), minimizing permanent viscosity loss under high-stress conditions.

Withstands 150°C operation (ΔTAN <1.0 mgKOH/g @ 1,000h), inhibiting sludge and carbon deposits.

Fully soluble in mineral oils, PAOs, and esters; synergizes with ZDDP, detergents, and other additives.

Zero sulfur/phosphorus/heavy metals (REACH/ECHA compliant); biodegradable option available (OECD 301F).

Application

Industrial Gear Oils:
ISO 12925 CKD/CKM (FZG scuffing ≥Stage 12), reduces micropitting.

Hydraulic Systems:
Denison HF-0 certified fluids, maintains volumetric efficiency in high-pressure pumps.

Wire/Cable Impregnation:
Enhances insulation paper moisture resistance and dielectric strength (volume resistivity >10¹⁵ Ω·cm).

Drawing Compounds/Metalworking Fluids:
Improves oil film adhesion, prevents cold welding.

Bio-Based Lubricants:
Compatible with HVO/ester oils (ISO 15380 HEES).

Recommended Dosage

0.5–3.0% (adjust per base oil viscosity and VI target).
